Mitan Das - Research Scholar at IIT Delhi

Hello! This is Mitan Das

PhD Research Scholar

Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Delhi

About Me

With a strong interest in applying Geospatial technologies in the field of water resources, my research work centres on assessing and identifying microplastic contamination in soils in urban catchments using advanced geospatial techniques. By integrating remote sensing datasets and geospatial technologies, I aim to identify potential microplastic contamination zones.

Research Projects

Assessment of Geomorphic Indices in Nagaland and Manipur (M.TECH.)

Duration: 2023-2024 | Role: Student

Comprehensive Assessment of Relative Tectonic Activity using geomorphic indices, lineaments, and multi-criteria decision-making processes. Integrated remote sensing data with field observations to evaluate relative tectonic acitivity potential in the region.

Key Outcomes: Developed New methodology and Part of the research has been presented in an International Conference.

Assessment of Population Density Along Indian Rivers (B.TECH.)

Duration: 2017-2018 | Role: Student

Large-scale population density mapping using GPS technology and census data across major Indian river basins. Analyzed distribution of populations on various parts of indian rivers.

Tools Used: GPS, Census Data

Small Township Project in Kunda Village, Jharkhand (DIPLOMA)

Duration: 2015 | Role: Student

Comprehensive township planning including road alignment, drainage design, and infrastructure surveying using modern geospatial technologies (leveling, total stations, GPS) integrated with census data for demographic analysis.

Skills Applied: Land surveying
